Two Arts, One Lineage
Hayashi-Ha Shito-Ryu Karate-Do
Rooted in the Shito-Ryu of Kenwa Mabuni, Hayashi-Ha unites the strength and linear power of Shuri-te with the circular, breathing techniques of Naha-te, refined by Soke Teruo Hayashi into a complete system of kata, kihon, and kumite.
Okinawa Kobudo Kenshin-Ryu
The traditional Okinawan weapons art codified by Soke Teruo Hayashi, including bo, sai, tonfa, nunchaku, and kama, taught alongside karate as an equal half of our heritage.
Our Founder
Soke Teruo Hayashi
Soke Teruo Hayashi (1924–2004) founded Hayashi-Ha Shito-Ryu in Osaka in 1970. A leading student of Kosei Kuniba, and briefly of Shito-Ryu founder Kenwa Mabuni, he sought the roots of karate in Okinawa, training under masters Shoshin Nagamine and Kenko Nakaima. Today his legacy lives on in dojos around the world, including here in the United States.
